OUR LOVE STORY
Our story began in January 2020 in Minneapolis, MN! We had our first date at First Draft in the North Loop (RIP). With relatively low expectations going into the evening (dating is hard), we were both pleasantly surprised with how much we had in common and closed down the bar after talking for nearly 3 hours. Then 2 months into our relationship, we found ourselves in a national pandemic. We spent almost every day together (with Hank and Dumbo, of course) cooking, working on puzzles, watching Netflix (remember Tiger King?), and landscaping Travis’s yard. They say the 2020 pandemic either ended or escalated your relationship; in our case, we quickly learned how much we loved each other.
From that point, our next few years in Minneapolis were filled with pool days at the Crossings (shout-out to the Crossings Swimmers), summer weekends at the North Shore, trips to Sanibel Island and Northern Michigan (plus numerous group trips with our MN family), 3 KC Chiefs Super Bowls and a KU basketball NCAA championship (Kelsey is still waiting for a Browns Super Bowl) and so many other memories. We spent countless hours together at garden centers as Travis grew his cacti obsession and started his company Sol Soils with our close friend JE in 2021. We supported each other as Travis left his job at Target to work full-time at Sol and as Kelsey graduated from medical school at UMN and transitioned to residency. After 4.5 years together in Minneapolis, we decided to escape MN winters and start a new adventure in California for Kelsey’s medical residency at UCLA! We moved to Culver City in LA in May 2024 and love our new home.
On a trip back to Minneapolis in December 2024, Travis took Kelsey to Como Arboretum in St. Paul. He framed it as yet another Sol Soils business related trip - but instead he got down on one knee and proposed! He then organized a surprise engagement party at Graze in North Loop with our friends and family! We are now starting our most exciting chapter - marriage and a lifetime together. We can’t wait for you all to join us and celebrate!
